  • 3 oz milk

  • 1 oz heavy cream

  • 0.75 oz simple syrup

  • 1/4 tsp rum extract

  • 1/8 tsp vanilla extract

  • Dash of nutmeg

  • Dash of allspice

Garnish:

  • Whipped cream

  • Nutmeg

  1. In a shaker, combine all ingredients with ice and shake vigorously to aerate, emulsify, and chill. Strain into a rocks glass and garnish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

Recipe: Egg Nog (Pitcher)

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs

  • 3 Tbsp sugar

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 2 cups milk

  • 1 tsp rum extract

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp allspice

Garnish:

  • Whipped cream

  • Nutmeg

Build:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until smooth and uniform.

  2. Add the heavy cream and whisk again until combined. Continue whisking as you add the milk, extracts, nutmeg, and allspice.

  3. Transfer to a pitcher or bottle and refrigerate until serving. We recommend enjoying within 1–2 days, though it likely won’t last that long.

  4. To serve, garnish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

History:

Did you know that in 1826 there was an Egg Nog Riot at West Point? The story goes that cadets smuggled booze into their Christmas celebration, which sparked an uproar that damaged multiple buildings, led to several court-martials, and ultimately became known as the Egg Nog Riot, though in truth, eggnog was really just the scapegoat.

More history coming soon.
