Today’s Mocktail is inspired by a cocktail I had on my first trip to Colombia with my wife, a trip that definitely holds a special place in my heart.

The passion fruit brings bright, tropical acidity and that unmistakable tang, while the orgeat rounds everything out with a smooth, nutty sweetness. It’s vibrant, refreshing, and balanced, the kind of drink that instantly transports you somewhere warm. (Which with the cold front that just rolled through is definitely a plus)

Recipe: The Golden Hour

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz passion fruit pulp

  • 1 oz orgeat

  • ½ oz fresh lime juice

  • 4 oz cold water

  • 4 dashes toasted almond bitters (6.6% ABV)*

Build:

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.

  2. Shake well to chill.

  3. Double strain into a rocks glass over a large cube.

  4. Garnish with a lime wheel and enjoy.

Note:

*Even with the toasted almond bitters, the final ABV remains well below the 0.5% non-alcoholic threshold. However if that is still too much for your liking, something like an imitation almond flavoring would work well.
